Does that sound familiar? Well maybe not the Texas Open part but he did win the British Open out of nowhere back in 2003, but where did he go? He actually did not go very far…or at least very far for too long. He followed his sudden fame by winning two more tournaments in 2006. There are men that would give up a lot to have 3 victories on the TOUR (4 NOW!), let alone one of them being a Major. Check out the money he won startingin 2003:
Â $1,434,911 including the Open Victory…out of nowhere
Â $500,818 not bad but hey, he had zero pressure, he was enjoying not having to worry about keeping his card
Â $594,670 I would take it…and keep my card…
Â $2,256,326 with two victories, did you think he was a one hit wonder?
Â $772,321 pretty damn solid, and making a pretty good living
Â $2,615,798 no victories which make this number show just how consistent he was in 2008
Â $799,524 enough to keep the card baby!
Â $812,136 ditto…
Â $423,466Â lost his card, how did this happen?
While playing as a member of the…European Tour…he wins again!
I made my sons clap after he won because he is a truly humble man. He did not get all big headed and has carved himself a pretty decent career even being part of a Ryder Cup Winning Team. I hope he never wins a PGA tournament while being a member of the European Tour again…but only because I hope he is here to stay. Congrats Ben on the victory. You are the latest reason I am addicted to golf this year!
